Edit: 11/6/23, I’m bringing down my rating down because I have been very ANNOYED with my last two experiences here. They want you to make reservations- but the reservation site doesn’t work anymore. So you have to email them with the reservation request – come on, it’s the year of 2023💀. And when you walk in without a reservation, the staff always look frazzled. It took me 30 minute to get helped my table. I dont understand why it is so difficult because you are just filling up my water kettle and portioning the tea (I am making the tea MYSELF). And, this is coming from someone who owns their own food business – so I understand store operations.
The tea amount given was also very little for $10 USD; I got around 3 grams for a 120 ml pot which was so stingy.
Edit: 10/9/2, just went in recently, and had the 30 year old Dong Ding and Lalashan GABA oolong. Both were lovely, but the Lalashan oolong was incredible – rose aroma, floral, fruity, thick texture
Original review: In the world of tea, it is undeniable that Wistaria Tea House is iconic. They are amongst the oldest tea houses in Taipei, the interior decor is beautiful and serene, and their teas (especially oolongs) are amongst the best you will get find anywhere in Taipei. To experience, the tea pot is usually around 300-400NTD ($10-15USD). It was totally worth it. Even years after visiting, I still fondly remember the memory of being there and tasting my fragrant tea. Go and treat yourself! Make sure you have an entire afternoon to dedicate to the traditional ways of brewing Taiwanese tea.
